In this day and age,
it is very disheartening to find some school children deprived of access
to computers and all the other educational opportunities afforded by the
major advances in electronics and communications. If this is the condition
in the wealthiest and most technically advanced country in the world…
one can imagine the situation in other parts of the world, especially
in the countries of the Third World.
KFF believes that every effort, no matter how small, has the power to
influence curious and budding minds and to change their lives forever.
As a result, KFF adopted the following:
Mission Statement:
Supporting the education of under-privileged children with
emphasis on providing access to new technology to such children.
|
 |
Vision:
The vision is to see underprivileged
children have access to new technology in education such as classroom
computers
and web access.
Education Funding Plan:
KFF’s funding in this area is through organizations
currently engaged in education of underprivileged children and young
students.
KFF’s Educational Committee solicits proposals
from selected institutions based on KFF’s criteria
and annual budgets. After review of the proposals,
the Committee makes its recommendation for final
funding and the grantees are notified.
Linkage with Heritage:
As part of its program in the Heritage area, KFF funds technology
centers in underdeveloped countries. See Heritage
area for description.
